Depression affects millions of people each year around the world. For many it is a brief depressed episode which occurs once or twice in their lifetime, which is often triggered by an event, where a person may feel a prolonged period of sadness. However, for many it can become recurring part of their life which leaves an unhelpful and often negative impact on their daily lifestyles, including their relationships. Depression can become a serious medical condition which affects how a person thinks, feels, and acts. If not treated properly, depression and stress can result in life threatening situations. Some common symptoms of depression include:

  • Feeling helpless
  • Feeling hopeless
  • Loss of appetite or significant weight loss/gain
  • Inability to sleep
  • Lack of interest in daily activities
  • Lack of energy
  • Irritable
  • Short-tempered
  • Ability to cry at the smallest misfortune
  • Consuming excessive alcohol
  • Talking about killing or harming oneself

However common it is – depression is treatable. There are many ways to treat depression. Often clients are prescribed anti-depressants and sleep medication, , however sometimes, these methods of treatment simply Band-Aid the issue and don’t actually work or get to the core of the issue for everyone. The medicines prescribed by many psychiatrists often have unpleasant side effects which may make the condition of clients worse than it already is in some instances.

Hypnosis to reduce depression and stress

Hypnosis, in some cases has been shown to be effective in treating many clients suffering from depression and stress. Of course, generally speaking hypnosis does not work for everyone however it is definitely worth considering, especially if other treatment methods are not working out for you and your depressive state is seriously impacting your life.

Hypnosis can help to identify the underlying cause of depression and stress. The hypnotherapists also helps the client find various ways to cope better with behavioural changes. Rather than keeping the clients stuck in the cycle of unhelpful feelings and thoughts – hypnosis may help them in achieving a positive outlook of life by using the methods of self-suggestions.

How does it work?

Once the client has reached a state of deep relaxation, the hypnotherapists makes positive suggestions by utilising keywords and imagery. Some examples of positive statements used by the hypnotherapist include, “I feel happy and optimistic” or “I am a worthy person and can offer a lot to others”.

Many conditions of depression are triggered by a trauma or tragedy such as death of a loved one, divorce, miscarriage, losing a job, or one of many other possible traumas. Depression can set in when the individual does not feel they have time to fully grieve the loss he or she has faced. Hypnosis can allow the client to let go of the painful emotions associated with the loss. The unhelpful thoughts are replaced with ones that are more helpful and accepting of their situation, that allow the clients to live their lives to the fullest.

Will hypnosis cure depression and stress?

The answer to this direct question is “NO”. The solution and the cure for depression and stress comes from within, after all, that is where it began. What hypnosis or any treatment does, is help guide the client to find the solution they need from within. This is why hypnosis can be often hailed as “The Cure”.

The effectiveness of hypnosis varies from person to person as well as their conditions. Some people especially children feel positive outcomes from only a few sessions of hypnosis while others may need several hypnotherapy sessions to reduce the symptoms of their depression and stress depending on the severity of their condition.

Hypnosis is definitely worth considering for those who have not found benefit from medication or other types of psychotherapy. The alternative method of treatment has helped many from undesirable habits or disorders. Basically, if you are continuing to suffer from any type of issue, it is in your best interests not to give up. What is best for you may just be the very next treatment you hear about, you just never know. And what is good for you, may not be the solution for others, however if your issue continues to impact upon your life, then it really is in your best interests to keep looking.

Quitting the habit of smoking can be challenging for many, however it is one of the best things you can do for your body. Smoking is dangerous and often results in cancer, lung diseases and heart problems, etc. many smokers try to cut back their intake of cigarettes by using nicotine patches, gum, prescription medicines and many other strategies, however they often fail at their attempt and fall straight back into the dangerous habit.

However, if the traditional methods to quit smoking haven’t worked for you, don’t give up yet! In fact, never quit attempting to quit, each time you attempt, you learn something new and one day one of those attempts will be successful.

Hypnosis is a helpful tool to help individuals quit smoking and is often overlooked. When you understand that hypnosis is a just a simple and direct way of talking directly to the programed part of the mind, then you are likely to understand the power that hypnosis has with the programming of new habits, patterns and behaviours.

What is hypnosis?

Most of us upon hearing the term, “hypnosis” envision of a golden pocket-watch being dangled in front of our faces. However hypnosis is a lot more than that, it is defined as an altered state of awareness where the clients often appear to be asleep or in trance. A therapist uses verbal repetition or images and makes suggestions to treat various psychological and even physical conditions. It is used and effective for many conditions including pain management, hot flushes, behavioural issues, weight loss, stress, panic, anxiety and many other issues that can impact upon our daily lives.

Hypnosis for Smokers:

Hypnotherapy for smokers works by putting the clients into an altered state of consciousness. The client may still be aware of his or her surroundings however they are more open to suggestions given by the therapist. During the session, clients may be asked to share what they think the negative outcome of the habit may be. The hypnotherapist may also make suggestions regarding the smell and the taste of cigarette fumes, for example, the cigarette smokes smell like truck exhaust or a person’s mouth may feel parched after smoking, or it may well taste like they have licked the ashtray clean.

The idea is to assist the clients to understand at a subconscious level the three main ideas associated with quitting smoking which are:

  1. Smoking is poisonous for the body
  2. A healthy body is vital for living
  3. We need to protect our body as it is the vehicle for the soul whilst we live.

The hypnotherapist may also teach the clients several ways to avoid the temptations of smoking which can be practiced at home, long after the session.

Will it work?

In general, it is a very successful technique for quitting the habit, however like all methods, hypnosis does not work for everyone. The success of hypnosis varies from a person to person. Of course, the time required for hypnosis to be successful for smokers can also vary. Some people find themselves quitting the habit after only one session, while others may require several follow-ups to break the habit permanently. Many hypnotherapists also suggest their clients incorporate other techniques to quit smoking alongside hypnosis to achieve positive results, in fact, when you have made the decision to change and quit the smokes for good, it is really in your best interests to apply as many strategies that work for you as possible. This way you certainly improved your chances of a favourable outcome.

Why quit smoking?

The life expectancy of a smoker is approximately 10 years less than a non-smoker. More and more people are dying pre-maturely from smoke-related illness each year, and the earlier you quit – the faster your body will recover and lessen the risk of smoke-related illnesses from occurring. Those who stop smoking benefit from longer life expectancy, more energy, improved immune system, less stress and overall better health.

Remember, it is never too late to quit smoking. Doing so is highly likely that it will give you immediate health benefits so if you have tried the traditional ways to quit smoking, line up and give hypnosis for smokers a go and if you have been successful in the past with hypnosis, and later made a conscious decision to start smoking again, then maybe you are ready to quit again now.

How to treat Insomnia

by Cas Willow on [edit]

What is Insomnia?

Insomnia is a condition where an individual can have a difficult time falling asleep or staying asleep.

Are you having trouble falling asleep at night? Do you wake up to early? Do you wake up several times in the middle of the night? You may be suffering from Insomnia. Insomnia affects millions of people around the world. There are natural ways to deal with your Insomnia. Activities you do before bedtime affect the way you sleep.

We humans have an internal clock called a Circadian Rhythm. If you set a fixed schedule as to when you go to sleep and wake up, you will work in harmony with your Circadian Rhythm. Therefore, napping during the day can throw off the Circadian Rhythm. If possible avoid sleeping during the day. You can greatly support your Circadian Rhythm by establishing a fixed pre-sleep routine. For example, before going off to bed, take a warm bath or drink hot tea, or read a relaxing book.

Stress and anxiety are the number one cause of insomnia. Before going to sleep, clear all stressful thoughts from your head. Don’t let anxiety keep you up all night. If you are having stress problems, try several proven techniques to get rid of them before bedtime. Many people highly recommend meditation, yoga, and various breathing exercises. The key is to always remember that to get a good night sleep, you have to be relaxed.

Experts say that what you do during the day affect the way you sleep at night. That is why exercise is recommended for Insomniacs because it wears you out during the day and can improve your sleep. Just avoid exercising right before you sleep. Also, it is recommended that you don’t go to bed on a full stomach. Avoid large fatty meals several hours before bedtime. Instead, have a light dinner like a bowl of oatmeal or cereal. Likewise, avoid any artificial stimulants like cola, coffee, chocolate, and anything with large amounts of caffeine or sugar. Also avoid smoking as the nicotine stimulates the brains and creates wakefulness.

If you wake up frequently during the night, it is a good idea not to count anything, just keep redirecting your thoughts back to your breath, avoid clock watching and avoid getting angry that you are unable to sleep. Trying to force the issue will only make things worse. Avoid getting up and doing anything stimulating like watching TV or checking Facebook or emails on the computer. The artificial light of the screen or monitor can actually trick your body in thing it is daytime. This will throw off your Circadian Rhythm as mentioned above. Getting yourself into good sleeping habits is the key. We specialize in assisting people with natural solutions to sleeping, so feel free to give us a call or email us.

How to treat Anxiety

by Cas Willow on [edit]

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is NOT a random, unknown, or uncontrollable disease or illness that you develop, inherit, or contract. Anxiety results from a certain style of behavior.

More specifically, we create the physiological, psychological, and emotional state of being anxious when we behave in an apprehensive manner, such as being worried, fretful, and / or concerned.

Anxiety is a feeling of tenseness, uneasiness, panic, and / or agony. People experiencing this for the first time often do not understand what they are feel and certainly don’t know how to treat anxiety. A number  of normal day to day worries and fears are warranted, such as fretting over a particular concern or in expectation of taking a test, or assessment, for example. However, serious anxiety interferes with the sufferer’s capability to sleep and to function normally in their day to day live. Anxiety attacks may occur without a cause, or may be triggered by real circumstances. Severe anxiety can have a huge impact on daily life.

Anxiety can be accompanied by a diversity of bodily symptoms. Most frequently, these symptoms are related to difficulty in breathing, heart palpitations, headaches, nervousness, rashes and many more. You may have disturbed stomach, diarrheal, trouble in breathing, feel as if you may faint or feeling that you are having a heart attack.

Anxiety attacks are something that the mind has contrived but they have very real physical symptoms. In normal life, your mind is taught to react to the fight or flight sensation whenever exposed to something of concern, however anxiety attacks are far greater than this.

To treat your serious anxiety problems, you must first try to recognize the cause. Look for the source trigger that causes you to worry and then you can look to cure it by addressing this. Some people will find this straight forward, but others will not be able to pin point the reason for their anxiety attacks. For examples, if your heart palpitations are caused because of being in a particular circumstance, you can try to ensure you don’t get into that particular situation or when in that situation, practice mind distraction techniques. This can take some time to master the art of doing and it is often helpful if you engage a professional counselor to assist.

How to treat anxiety:

The usual answers on how to treat anxiety are through the use of medical drugs, and with treatments such as various kinds of counseling, psychotherapy, behavioral and cognitive therapies, and other related techniques.

In severe cases there can also be the use of electroconvulsive therapy and psychosurgical procedures. There are a lot of ways how to treat anxiety related problems, and not all of them will appropriate for you. Once you begin a course of treatment you need to keep an eye on yourself closely and learn how your own body is reacting to the treatment, and if there is a reduction in the severity of the anxiety, then decide if the recommended treatment works for you and what you may be able to alter and adjust. Once of the key disappointments to many can be that one particular treatment might be effectual for some people, but won’t be able to help everyone.

Often when looking at how to treat anxiety, medical doctors can overlook the individuals cause and core of their issue, however by carefully monitoring your anxiety during treatment, you can identify patterns and reveal if particular treatments are working for you.

Anxiety Treatment Melbourne

by Cas Willow on [edit]

From time to time we all feel anxious for some reason. It can be stress from work or some social obligations. Mild anxiety can be helpful in making the person more alert and capable to deal with challenging situations. Extreme fear and worry can be the early symptoms of anxiety disorder.  This is condition that should be treated at its early stage and it is very easy to find the appropriate anxiety treatment Melbourne.

Most anxiety disorders can be treated. The anxiety may be a result of a painful thought or some feelings that might be hidden from the conscious mind. Hypnosis can be used to analyse the person whether they have some possible psychological root which is causing the disorder or a symptom. It is very possible that a past event might be hidden in the subconscious mind and it is causing all the problems. Once the trauma is revealed through hypnotherapy then it can be addressed properly.
During hypnosis a person is more open for discussions and for suggestions as well.Hypnosis is not dangerous at all. Your therapist cannot control your mind or cannot make a person do something that they would not do in their conscious state. It is always performed by licensed therapist who is trained to use all the techniques that are necessary.

This is also in a way a relaxation therapy too. While people are relaxed they feel that they have more control over their anxiety. Feeling relaxed can also reduce anxious thoughts and behaviour.
The fear that a person feels during an anxiety attack might be triggered from something that it is long time forgotten but it still feels so real. A person that has anxiety disorder finds it very difficult to concentrate on easy daily tasks. Some symptoms include shortness of breath, some people may experience insomnia or dizziness. There is also some evidence that anxiety disorder can run in the family too. Once this disorder is identified it can be easily treated.

Anxiety disorders can leave serious consequences if they are left untreated. Recurring panic attacks might make people avoiding situations that trigger attacks and this avoidance can create some problems even on basic activities. It is advised to choose a qualified hypnotherapist who has a solid healthcare background since this is a serious condition. You are fully aware of what is happening to you during a session, and if you want you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state.

To stop a long term habit sometimes it requires more than will power, it requires the skills of an experienced hypnotherapist to stop smoking Melbourne. Nicotine is highly addictive and for that reason it is very difficult to quit since it stimulates pleasure centers in the brain.

One of the foundations of hypnotherapy is signal recognition. It is advised to find a hypnotherapist who is well trained and can see when the subject is entering a hypnotic trance.

During a session a deeper relationship is developed between the subject and the hypnotherapist. This is a different kind of a bond and it is something that you do not experience during your everyday life. It is an intimate relationship which is based on trust. There are people that are aware that hypnosis is going on so they might feel vulnerable and for this reason their relationship with the therapist can be even deeper than the one they share with their family and friends.

Every good therapist has to have the respect of their client, they have to be someone the client can trust while they are in their trance, otherwise the subject will be focused elsewhere and not be listening to their directions and suggestions. Knowing how to notice and tap their subject`s emotional triggers is a key too. This skill gives the power to control the feelings that govern the subject`s life.

It is very possible that during our daily life we are not aware that we are dealing with the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is there to change that and bring the subconscious to the forefront. It helps you deal with the subconscious mind. By the use of a powerful language and some hypnotic techniques it is possible to have an ordinary conversation.

It can be very easy to have a person enter into a trance but motivating and influencing people to do something could be challenging for a novice therapist.

People have different reasons why they smoke in the first place. Some see smoking as a stress relief, some feel relaxed and some do not even know why they are continuing this habit. For this reason every session have to be customized because it is different for everyone. You will answer some questions and the therapist will have a deep conversation with your subconscious mind and they will change your smoking habit into something that is more pleasant.

Most people remain non-smokers after couple of sessions. We always recommend a minimum of two sessions, some people only need one, where some may need three. And just because you are a long term smoker does not necessarily mean you will be in the three session group. In fact often it is quite the opposite. Whatever group you are in do not feel ashamed, feel proud that you have sort the professional help to say goodbye to this unhealthy habit. You may just be surprised how the quality of your life may change for the better.

To stop smoking, hypnosis is one of the most powerful ways to get rid of this addictive habit. We have to be ready to make a change in our life even before we book for our hypnotherapy session. There are so many benefits of becoming a non-smoker. We are not talking just about the amount of money you will save but about the amazing feeling you will have and the tremendous self-esteem you will feel. Do not let skeptical people get in your way, you can join the stop smoking hypnosis Melbourne program and you can be where you want to be in your life.

Good health is a number one priority to everyone, no exception. We all miss the days when we felt energized and felt better. Most of the people know that they lack all those things just because they cannot quit smoking. It is common knowledge that most smokers want to quit, since they know how unhealthy smoking is, so why it is such a hard work to do so? Quitting is not that difficult at all but dealing with craves and urges once we quit is difficult to cope with. Even though our conscious tells us that smoking is slowly killing us we still continue to put that deadly chemical in our bodies.

People who quit smoking with the help of hypnotherapy have quit once it for all. They do not get back to the old habit once they feel stressed or they have an urge to light a cigarette. During hypnosis all those things that trigger a person to smoke are addressed. A person focuses intensely on the situation and during this time it is not paying attention to anything else. This is a relaxing state where you feel great just like you are being completely engrossed in a book you are reading.

The operating system of your body is the subconscious mind. It runs your whole body, everything you like or dislike. During a session that part of the mind is involved, the part that craves the cigarettes is in a way reprogrammed.

Everyone deserves to quit smoking. The main problem is that people do not know how. They do not know on which door to knock for help. With the help of hypnosis you can stop smoking now and live a healthy and a long life and be free from the life threatening consequences of your smoking habit.

Quitting smoking offers both short-term as well as long-term benefits. The benefits of not smoking extend to physical, mental as well as emotional aspects. You can be confident that you’ll never regret the decision! Cigarettes contain chemicals that are known to cause cancer. When you make the decision to quit, you are reducing the risks of developing disease. If you’ve been thinking of smoking, the right time to quit is now! You’ll begin to feel better in as little as 20 minutes. Your body begins to heal itself and will start to recover from years of smoking.

In fact, after 20 minutes, your pulse rate, body temperature as well as heart rate comes down to normal levels (smoking causes a spike in heart rate, blood pressure and temperature).

The very first benefit is that the high nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in your blood begin to drop. Your heart and lungs kick into action and begin to repair the damage caused by years (or even decades) of smoking. Actually, the withdrawal symptoms experienced by most smokers are a part of the recovery process. Your relieved body reacts by clearing off all nicotine from your body within 2 to 3 days after quitting!

After about 8 hours, oxygen levels in your blood begin to rise as carbon monoxide levels (a toxin) begin to fall. After a period of 48 hours, nerve endings in the body begin to re-grow and this in turn results in improved sense of taste and smell. Upto 3 months after quitting, lung function increases by an impressive 30%. In addition, blood circulation is also stimulated. Over a period of 5 to 15 years, you enjoy the same health benefits as non-smokers. To sum it up, you enjoy the prospect of better health, lower risk of disease and better life span expectancy!

Choosing to be smoke-free also provides relief from stress, anxiety and depression. As the professionals at www.caswillow.com suggest, the improved levels of oxygen help you enjoy improved levels of mental clarity and focus.
