How to Improve Self-esteem

by Cas Willow on [edit]

There is nothing more important than how we feel about ourselves. We all have to know how to improve our self-esteem. Some people believe that self-esteem has to do something with the way they look or how popular they are. Others believe that you need to accomplish something to have good self-esteem.
It is way simpler than these. Self-esteem means that you are appreciating yourself for who you really are. There are people with high, and people with low self-esteem. This brings us to the question how to improve self-esteem. Usually people with good self-esteem feel good about themselves, they are proud of what they are doing and about what they accomplish throughout their life. They are aware that they are not perfect and that they have faults like anyone else.

You have to be realistic about what you can and what you cannot do. You cannot say that you are not good in something if you haven’t even tried. For example, take a piece of paper and write a list of your strengths and your weaknesses. Try to find 10 of each. You will may struggle to find 10 strengths if you suffer from low self-esteem, however keep looking and persist with yourself until you complete the task.
Do not set unrealistic expectations. Sometimes we even have small expectations which are impossible to come true. But do not give up, and do not let someone`s criticism affect your own opinion of yourself. If you set realistic expectations you will most definitely reach your goal.

Let go of perfection. That is something that is simply unattainable. You will probably never going to have the perfect beach body, the perfect house or the perfect life to begin with. We are aware of the fact that you see these perfections on television every day, however this is not something that is real. This is an artificial society that is making our lives more difficult. Start with a smaller goal and move on gradually. Accept that you are going to make mistakes, and see them as opportunities for growth.

It is very important to know your strengths and weaknesses, but at the same time always be open for new opportunities. Meet new people, try new things and never stop exploring. This might be the key to your success, trying and doing things that you wouldn’t ordinary do.

Do not compare yourself to others. How can you know that this comparison is fair? This can be tough, but you need to stop doing that. These comparisons are not fair, because you do not know that much of other people`s lives. You just see them every day, but you do not know what happens behind closed doors, their lives might be worse than you can imagine.

All this may sound easy, however if you want to improve your self-esteem you need lots of patience. You have to make an effort and be more realistic about yourself. You might be surprised by the results.

If you want to overcome a panic attack you need to train yourself to accept the panic in a calming way. We will show you some simple but powerful tips which will help you in overcoming panic attacks. The first step is to start doing something that is quite different to what you used to do before.  Because it is common sense that if you keep doing the same thing you will not end up with any different results. You will need to seek different methods if you want to find relief from anxiety. This does not have to be difficult, it can be simple however understand it may seem difficult and hard, so we will attempt to show you how to accept and deal with these panic attacks.

The most important single step is to acknowledge and accept your panic attacks. You need to realise that you have had a thought that you are afraid and that if you follow that thought you can start to panic. Do not ignore this situation, and do not try to pretend that it is not present. You need to know that you are afraid, and what that afraid is trying to do for you. Are you in real danger? What is afraid  protecting you from?  You may need some help and assistance to accept this feeling and work through it. It is present and you need to find a way to overcome it, so as you can experience a quality of life. It is no one`s fault. You will need to work with this fear and not push it away and attempt to ignore, it is common that you may have already attempted to push it away and possibly it came back with a vengeance.

You may be thinking how you can accept something that you do not desire or want. You just need to know that even though this feels awful it can be worked through for you to experience a quality of life, and if you accept these symptoms and not resist them you can eventually overcome these panic attacks.
If you are having a panic attack, there are many techniques that can be exercised to help you through until you seek the help that may be required. One of the many techniques we share with our clients is explained in this YouTube video that we created with Cas showing you some helpful techniques. To view the video, simply follow this link https://youtu.be/ljV4PtZbDp8.

Understand that the attack is usually something that is temporary, and you will soon regain your ability to think, focus, concentrate and function. If you react you may  make your current situation worse. So practice these techniques and keep your options open, so you feel that you are becoming free, it is really important to slow down, breathe deeply and do not rush into anything. The best way to address panic is to seek the assistance of an experienced therapist to obtain your control as soon as you notice the issue is presenting itself.

A good idea is to keep a panic diary. Write down everything you think is important. There are some clients that say that even filling out a diary helps them to feel better. You can also download a diary that includes set of instructions, which are simple questions regarding your attacks, you can fill it out during an attack, or shortly after so you have a good recollection of the event, so you can record it accurately.
If you are having panic attack, relax and distract your thoughts, knowing it will come to an end at some stage. This will happen on its own. You need to make yourself as comfortable as possible and wait for the attack to end. There are some techniques that are useful in overcoming panic attacks. Deep breathing is a very powerful tool. Try to talk to yourself silently and be aware what is happening and what you need to do. Try to relax, notice if your body gets tense during an attack. Your panic attack will end, they all end, no matter how you response to them. Your only job here is to make yourself comfortable and wait for this unpleasant attack to be over.

How To Stop Being Anxious

by Cas Willow on [edit]

Sometimes it can be helpful to worry about things, but only if it spurs you to do something or to solve a problem. If you are constantly worrying, and making the worst case scenarios then this can become a problem. Doubts and fears are not exactly the feelings you want to deal with every day. Chronic worrying may be a mental habit, but it is possible to break it.

So, why it is so hard to stop worrying? And, is there someone who can guide us in how to stop being anxious all the time? Constant worrying can keep you awake at night and it can make you feel tense during the day. You probably know that this is not healthy, and it is advised to do something regarding your situation.

You are probably finding difficult, the idea to be productive while you are working or even when you are spending time with your family. It is easy to tell yourself not to worry, however simply telling yourself this does not generally work. You can learn and discover techniques to distract your thoughts.

There are many different and easy processes that you can do to control the situations. For instance you can start with setting a time and place when you can worry (if you really feel the need), this will at least contain the thought to a specific time. It could possibly be the same every day, the same place and the same time. During the period when you are allowed to worry, you can worry about anything, and the rest of the day can then be your worry-free zone and if something arises, then simply postpone it to that specific time of the day.

During the day, if an anxious thought comes to your mind, work at postponing it, with practice you are likely to become very good at it. You can think about it during your worry period and there is absolutely no need to worry about it now. Continue with your day and save your worries for later.

You can also make a list of every single thing that is troubling you and later you can go through it. Distinguish your worries, whether they can be something that you can solve or something you cannot.
If you are constantly feeling anxious that might mean that you are afraid of what the future might bring. We are not able to know what is going to happen in the near future, we cannot control unpleasant surprises and we cannot control the outcome. If we think about all the things that can go wrong we still do not have the power to make life more predictable.

If the feelings of being anxious are chronic, then you might be able to focus on learning some relaxation techniques as well, such as deep breathing and meditation. These techniques do not work for everybody, some people prefer to walk, run or use a punching bag, the idea is to find what it is that works for you.  We all need a certain level of anxiety, as it is anxiety that keeps us safe, anxiety prevents us from undertaking many possibly dangerous things, so it is important to acknowledge that a level of anxiety is good. What we don’t want is our anxiety to be working overtime,  so if you strengthen your body`s ability to relax, you might just feel better and develop some good management skills.

If you feel you would benefit from some professional assistance, then please feel free to call and discuss your needs with one of the therapists at CaS Therapy in Williamstown, Melbourne, on 9397 0010.

To overcome an addiction to alcohol can be a long and stressful procedure for a person and for his family too. Some might say that overcoming this addiction can even be impossible. It is simply not. If you are ready to take that step and if you are determined to stop, then you could do it. Find the right support and no matter how harsh your addiction is, you can defeat it. Even if you feel powerless, do not wait until you hit the rock bottom. Try to make a change, and hit the road to recovery as soon as possible.

If you need help how to stop drinking alcohol on your own just ask for it, do not be ashamed. This is not something you can do over night. This is a gradual process and it takes time until you are completely recovered from this illness of the 21st century.

The first step, like with any other issue, is admitting that you have a problem. After you admit that you have a drinking problem you still might be inclined to make excuses, however confronting the issues and working through these kinds of situations, can build on your inner strength.

Since you have decided to change, the next step you could look at taking is to establish very specific and realistic goals. If your goal is to cut back on drinking, then you can have days when you are allowed to drink, and days when you are not allowed. And do not forget, that you are trying to stop drinking all together, so decide how much you can drink per day and work towards a decreasing plan of attack.

Remove everything that is tempting you to start drinking again. Remove all the alcohol in your house and in your office. Ask your friends and family for support and what you are working towards. You will need the support from them, and at the same time, if they drink they will not do it in front of you, at least for a while, it would be a good idea to avoid social situation where you know temptation is likely to present itself.

You might have asked yourself should you stop drinking completely or just cut back on drinking. This depends on you and at the same time this depends on the severity of your drinking problem. If you are dependent upon the alcohol, which means you cannot start your day without a drink, and you feel you cannot control it anymore, then it may be in your best interests to stop drinking completely. This can be a very difficult step so you might cut back on drinking, at least for the first couple of weeks, and see how your life goes, it may actually appear worse for a short period before heading in a better direction, simply because your body did or does have a dependency on the alcohol.

There are people who can stop drinking alcohol on their own. They probably have strong will and determination. But if you are one of those who do not know how to stop drinking alcohol then you may wish to seek help. No matter which option is better for you personally or which avenue you choose to take, the ultimate goal is to stop this habit that is having an adverse effect upon your life.

If you are looking for a private therapy centre, with a therapist who specialises in Alcohol and Other Drug addictions and dependencies, then call CaS Therapy in Williamstown, Melbourne on 9397 0010 to book your first appointment or discuss your needs and how we can help.

How to Stop Gambling Problems Forever From Best Melbourne Clinic

Gambling for some people, is seen as a huge problem, for some it is an addiction. If you have ever asked yourself how I can stop, you are not the only one. Many people are having the same struggles. You can find poker machines on almost every corner, casinos in most major cities, bookmakers are all over the place for gambling on horses, dogs, sports and almost anything as well as lottery games and raffles, so at some point it is inevitable that gambling will present itself in your pathway.

There is a hope, and not everything is lost. We can help you and show you how to stop gambling problems forever. The first thing you will need to do is to change the way you are thinking and this will assist you in getting rid of your gambling problem. One would think that it is common knowledge that we behave and therefore we feel the way we think. If we are determined and persistent in what we want to accomplish there is a great chance that we will accomplish that goal. But is it easy to change your thinking about gambling? As we said before if you are determined you can solve the problem. First thing you will need, is to find the motivation. This is the first step to abstain from problematic behaviour. It can seem very difficult and you will need some strategies to deal with certain urges, to solve your problems in a reasonable way. And last but not the least, you will need to learn to recognise and distinguish your immediate desires from your long-term goals.

If you want you can write goal statements, these can be really helpful. Decide why you want to stop gambling. Do not use gambling as a way to escape your emotional problems, find a way to deal with those emotional issues, without needing to escape. Problems with your family, your work or your health will need to be resolved in another way. If you find yourself with an urge to return to gambling, read your statements so you can remember why you stopped gambling in the first place. Distract yourself and choose to do something different.

Identify what is triggering you to gamble is very important. Think whether you gambled in times when you were stressed or when you were celebrating something.  Did you gamble when you needed money or you were just bored? Once you realise the main reason you can find a way to cope easily with these situations.

Always remember that your family and friends are the ones who you can possibly turn to in difficult times. IF not them, then someone, there is always help available, even Gamblers Help Lines. The people at these call help lines are professionally trained to help and if needed they can, call on further support. It may be difficult to admit a problem like this, however when you find the courage and talk to your friends, relatives or your therapist you can find it really helpful because you are likely to need support throughout your recovery journey at some stage.

If you have gambling problems you may have damage to your financial situation. You may need to assess your finances and seek financial support as well. One of the most important things here is to address the underlying issues so as you can stop spending your money on gambling.

Remember, help is available you just need to first realise that you have an issue and  need help.
If you are looking for a private therapy centre, with therapists who are able to help with all types of addictions and dependencies, then call CaS Therapy in Williamstown, Melbourne on 9397 0010 to book an appointment or to discuss your needs.

If you find yourself among those people living with chronic pain, you might find it impossible to lead a full and active life. If the pain treatment you have tried so many times does not provide you with relief do not give up, a hypnotherapy session or program might be the answer. It may help you to look at alternatives for the management of chronic pain control management clinic Melbourne, maybe you have exhausted all other avenues and have not given what may be the answer for you a second thought. Many alternative or natural healthcare providers use a multidisciplinary approach in order to help people to manage their pain. They will use various strategies to manage your pain. There are doctors of different specialties and at the same time there are non-physician providers who have specialised in management of pain by using alternative treatments like relaxation and hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is used by many people to manage pain. The basic idea here is to change the way individuals perceive the pain message so that they can reduce the intensity of the pain they are experiencing.

During hypnosis your mind is guided to let go all of the distracting thoughts and it is relaxed. When we are concentrated and relaxed we can use our minds more powerfully. When a person is hypnotised it becomes more open for suggestions such as reducing the pain. This new behaviour is used in the post-suggestion phase to help the individual control the pain.

At the beginning you can start with regular sessions, there are some techniques and you need appropriate guidance to go through the treatment. It is recommended to practice the techniques more often, even when you feel little pain. It will be more difficult to practice when we are in a lot of pain. With hypnosis we learn how to take control over our body. And not only that, but by using hypnosis as a tool we can eliminate the stress that comes of not being able to control the situation.

Some people respond better to hypnosis, some people take longer to respond than others, some have a preconceived idea and expectation of what hypnosis is or does and if it is different, they may leave them confused. So it is a good idea to research and educate yourself on what to expect first.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy is generally safe, there are some contraindications, relating to current mental state and medications that can be discussed with your registered and recognised therapist. Generally, there are no side effects, it is a natural process and it can be very helpful for some individuals. There is a possibility in the long-term, that it can save you a lot of unnecessary discomfort and possibly save you a whole lot of money because you might not need all those medications you used to take for your pain.

You are also advised to practice self-hypnosis as a part of your treatment. You will be taught how to practice some techniques, and when all your sessions are done you will be able to continue using these skills that you have learnt.

It is important to remember that pain is there for a reason, pain is relaying to you that something is not right in your body, so to mask the pain completely or ignore pain can lead to even a fatal outcome and that is not the desired result, that is why it is often best to manage the pain, whilst treating the core issue.

If you are looking for a private therapy centre with an alternative treatment for pain management utilising  hypnosis and hypnotherapy, then call CaS Therapy in Williamstown, Melbourne on 9397 0010 or on the mobile 0428 655 270 to book an appointment and discuss your needs.

It is a well known fact that Australia has one of the highest rates of alcohol abuse in the world. At some stage of their adult life many Australians are experiencing excessive alcohol consumption. Say Yes to Health and Vitality: How to Stop Smoking Cigarettes

There has been increasing awareness about the negative effects of smoking. ‘No smoking’ campaigns have been successful in educating the public about the detrimental health effects of smoking. However, despite being aware of the negative health effects of smoking, it can be extremely challenging to quit smoking on your own! The mental and physical dependence on nicotine can prove to be a major obstacle. Some people are able to quit smoking once they make up their minds. If you’re looking for advice on how to stop smoking cigarettes, the best way is to make a lasting and sincere commitment to yourself! Make up your mind that you want to love a joyous, healthy and happy life, free of any addictions.
|
There are several smoking cessation aids available in the market. There is chewing gum, patches, NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) and so on. Many of these aids are certainly useful when you want to quit. But the main challenge in lies being able to resist the temptation of ‘one more puff’. Heavy smokers who have successfully quit their habit are no longer affected by being in the same room as other smokers.
Meditation is an effective technique for those who wish to kick the smoking habit. Since stress and anxiety is one of the biggest causes of smoking, meditation is considered as a useful anti-smoking tool.

One of the biggest benefits of meditation is that it promotes mindfulness or living in the moment. Being aware of your feelings in turn helps you identify cravings before they take hold your mind. More importantly, you accept and observe cravings without feeling compelled to react to them. Meditating boosts our ability to pay attention to our thoughts. The increased attention goes a long way in staving off addictive behaviour as the technique works on multiple levels.

While external aids such as patches, chewing gum and so on work on a physical level, meditation helps calm the mind and release stress. Once you become used to releasing your stress in an alternate, healthy way, you automatically cease to perceive smoking as a stress relieving behaviour. Hence meditation is an excellent technique that helps you banish addictive behaviours from your psyche as well as from your life.

In a recent research study conducted by Yale, the results suggested that meditation was as effective (or rather more) than the conventional methods of treatment. By using meditation, smokers were more likely to abstain from smoking in the future. Many people are able to quit but the real challenge lies in being able to practice abstinence in the long run. The trained professionals at www.caswillow.com are happy to help you quit smoking.
