Find it hard to lose weight post pregnancy? Struggling to shed those unwanted kilos and unsightly inches?

After 9 months of handling extra weight, it can be emotionally overwhelming to shed those extra kilos after pregnancy. Although, it can take a little bit of time and effort, with the right attitude, diet and exercise program, you can look forward to fitting into your old jeans again. Losing weight after having a baby can take a little while so work on adopting a healthy lifestyle before you begin to see results.

Pregnancy weight loss is often associated with several myths. A popular one is that if you don’t lose weight within six months to 1 year, it will be difficult to lose the weight at all. This is not true, every woman has her own body metabolism and mental approach so each woman loses weight at her own pace.

Why is it difficult to lose weight after pregnancy?

Weight loss after pregnancy depends on many factors. If you were put on medications or had complications during pregnancy, this could have a significant impact on how much weight you lose.

Sleep Deprivation

Sleep might be difficult with a newborn baby who needs feeding during the night. Sleep deprivation may make you too tired to exercise and also affects the levels of appetite control hormones like Leptin and Ghrelin. Try and sleep when the baby sleeps so that your body feels rested and refreshed.

Disrupted Eating habits

The first few months after a baby’s birth are often overwhelming as you are worried about the baby’s feeding rhythms, health and growth. Since your focus is on the baby, you may not pay attention to what you eat. Most stressed mothers tend to reach out for a bag of cookies when they feel hungry because they haven’t had time to eat a proper meal.

Lactation

Mothers who breast feed their children may lose more weight during the initial months compared to those who opt for bottle feed. Your body tends to have extra fat stores so that you can feed the baby.

Post Pregnancy Weight Loss Counseling

The stress and exhaustion after having a baby may often lead to depression and anxiety. It’s also important to keep your expectations realistic with respect to post pregnancy weight loss. Counseling can help you change negative belief patterns and attitudes and replace with them with positive motivation. Your therapist at www.caswillow.com can also help you examine your lifestyle and diet to formulate a practical and effective weight loss program.

Feeling depressed and lonely after the death of a loved one?

Grief is an extremely private emotion. The extent and nature of grief varies across people and while some heal faster, others find it hard to come to terms with their loss. We experience grief after any loss including loss of money, job or social approval. But the grief experienced after losing a loved one can be deep and lasting. Unresolved grief may transform itself into suppressed emotion and may express itself through other ways such as substance addiction or depression.

Emotions following the death of a loved one can include sadness, despair, anger, denial and loneliness. The first two weeks are the most difficult and people experience the feelings of most agitation. After this period, the agitation usually settles down into sadness, sorrow or loneliness.

Moreover, unlike the olden days when families were large, we are left to cope with the grieving process on our own. Since death is not a popular topic for discussion and is not encouraged, most of us have no idea of how to process our emotions and move on. Apart from losing a loved one, even mothers who have miscarried or families who have a lost a beloved pet undergo the grieving process.

The most common emotion that follows a death (especially a sudden death) is a feeling of numbness and disbelief. In reality, this numb feeling is a protective reflex mechanism of the mind that shelters the psyche from shattering grief. It’s normal to experience for a few days but if the unreal feeling continues for weeks after the death, it can begin to disrupt normal day-to-day life. It’s important to acknowledge your feelings and express your emotions. Some may cope by going back to work or sending time with friends. Others may find it difficult to handle it and may withdraw into their shell. The mix of overwhelming emotions may often cause you to act out of character in a way that is different from your normal personality.

Grief counselling

A grief counsellor is trained to help you process your emotions and express them in a healthy manner. The therapy is different for everyone as each person has their own unique ways of coping. Grief counselling encourages you to resolve areas of emotional conflict, accept the loss and gives you the motivation to move on with your life. You learn to honour the memory of the deceased but prevent their absence from disrupting your life. At www.caswillow.com, you can get the help and support that you require to heal from feelings of grief and bereavement.

Struggling to Quit Smoking

by Heather Richards on [edit]

Hypnotherapy could be the Key to Help You Kick the Cancer Stick.

Are you concerned about your smoking habit and wishing to quit? Do you have a nasty cough and are you the finding you are one of a minority these days? Have you tried patches, chewing gum and even the electric cigarettes and still find yourself unable to kick the habit? Hypnotherapy may prove to be a valuable aid to help you quit smoking.

Our successful quit smoking program is very intensive and boasts a high success rate that sees people recommending us and travelling to us for all over Melbourne to our unique quit smoking program, system and education. A commitment is required by the person wishing to quit the habit, because over a two week period you come in and spend approximately five hours one-on-one with us. Your first session is about educating and exploring your past and present habits, patterns, associations and behaviours, as well as preparing you, your mind and your body for change. By the time you arrive for the second session, you have had your last cigarette ever and we remove all of the attachments you may have to your very best friend (your smokes) in a comprehensive hypnotic session. In the third session we simply just address any cravings, thoughts, feelings or emotions that may or may not have arisen as a result of you breaking up with your best friend so to speak and quitting smoking.

Quit the Smokes with HypnosisWhile everyone is aware of the numerous side-effects of smoking, it can still be extremely challenging to actually kick the habit. Most people begin smoking in their teens or early twenties and before you know it, you are caught in the throes of what you think and feel is a serious addiction.

Smoking can cause irreparable damage to your health and is often the underlying cause behind heart attacks, cancer and strokes among other ailments. You may not wish to know, however an interesting fact to be aware of is that smoking leads to more deaths than traffic accidents and suicides put together.

The reason why smoking can prove to be a huge challenge to quit lies not only in the chemical nature of nicotine, but the on-going mind chatter. Once a person gets used to smoking a particular number of cigarettes a day, the body becomes gradually used to a specific dose of nicotine along with the habits and associations that go along with that. Quitting cold turkey can be hard because of the severe withdrawal symptoms that set in when you abstain from smoking. Withdrawal symptoms could include headaches, nausea, dizziness and mood swings.

Quitting a long-standing smoking habit often involves a certain amount of willpower; smoking tends to be easier to start than to quit. However our hypnotherapy quit smoking program and system gives you the tools to cope with the mind chatter that may be able to help you quit smoking for good.

How does Hypnotherapy help you Quit Smoking?

Hypnotherapy can and will work for you providing you seriously want and are committed to quit smoking. Since the hypnotherapist will be working with your mind, it is important that you make a commitment to wean yourself off your addiction to nicotine. The therapist will first help you achieve a relaxed state of mind where you are able to communicate with your subconscious.

Your subconscious is a valuable tool when you want to quit smoking. The trained hypnotherapist who specialises in helping and assisting people to quit smoking is Heather at CaS Therapy and Heather will infuse positive suggestions in your subconscious mind. Your newly reprogrammed thinking process will help you strengthen your resolve. The initial session with your hypnotherapist will be lengthier than a normal standard session, as she will first assess your history and help you understand the motivation behind your smoking habit.

Hypnotherapy is a powerful technique and our program helps identify the triggers that you associate with smoking and that make you want to smoke. For example, triggers could include stressful situations during work or at home.

It is important to choose a therapist with whom you trust and feel comfortable with. Heather is happy to discuss if she is a fit for you, prior to your sessions to reprogram your thoughts about smoking. In order to reinforce the hypnotherapy sessions, your therapist may also help you with follow-up programs that may include affirmations and self-hypnosis techniques.

Resource Therapy or Ego State Therapy can help you Release Pain

Do you find yourself depressed or frustrated? Are you harbouring latent emotional pain that’s holding you back from living the life of your dreams?

Each person has their unique set of hopes, ambitions, fears and worries.

The human personality is much more complex than we realize. We are all a blend of different ‘states’; these states together make up who we are as a person. No one person can be just happy or just sad or angry all the time. The human personality is a combination of various facets and sometimes one facet dominates the rest. We find ourselves often saying ‘A part of me wants to _______________’; this is ego states or as Gordon Emmerson refers to them in his latest book “Resource States” that we’re referring to.

Resource Therapy (RT) and Ego State Therapy (EST) treats mental and emotional issues by addressing the state that appears to harboring hidden pain. An Ego State Therapist treats the part of you that is storing emotional baggage. Once the source and cause of the pain is resolved, your ego state lets go of the emotional baggage and regains equilibrium.

How are Resource States related to the way we feel?

Ego State Therapy works on the premise that each ego state has its own set of traits including logic, emotion and sensation. When all our ego states are in harmony, we feel at peace. If there is any conflict between ego states, this is when you begin to experience internal struggle. The hidden conflict expresses itself through negative emotions including irritability, frustration and anger.

Managing your ego states productively can help you lead a fulfilling and enriching life. The different resource states make you the person you are and it’s important to know when something is amiss. A therapist can help you access the ego state that appears to be in a state of conflict. Resource statesare formed out of our own unique experiences, feelings and thoughts.

Most of us show repetitive behavior when faced with unpleasant situations or challenges. These repetitive behaviors tend to get programmed into the ego states as patterns. Behavior and thought patterns can be unhelpful. Unhelpful behavior patterns tend to throw a resource state out of sync and lead to unresolved emotional issues.

If you have been feeling down, stressed or anxious over a prolonged period, please feel free to call our center to see how resource therapy can be of assistance to you. You will gain a better personal perspective and will be able to identify behaviorists or patterns that are causing emotional conflict.

Can You Selectively Blanket Emotions?

by Heather Richards on [edit]

Clinical Hypnosis and Emotions

Happy, Glad, Sad and Mad are all completely natural human emotions. We are quite willing to sit in a happy or glad emotion and often if we feel the other two or any number of other emotions, we look for a way to stop that feeling.

It is impossible to selective blanket emotions with drugs, if you take an anti-depressant to numb the pain of feeling sad, you will also numb the other emotions including, happy, glad, love and all of the emotions that we long to feel when we are feeling, down, sad, lonely, unloved, unwanted etc.

What we need to realise is, that as humans we are designed to experience all of these emotions, so when we see our children, our friends or family, hurt, sad, rejected, afraid, embarrassed, confused, frustrated, angry or any other feeling, we need to acknowledge that it is normal and they are allowed to feel that way.

CaS Therapy Key
The key is to acknowledge and accept that feeling and make room for that feeling when it is with us. When we are sad, acknowledge we are sad and allow room and time for sad, allow sad to be heard and validated as normal. Learning your own internal resources is very helpful when dealing with your emotions. If sad is coming out more often than you would like then, it is time to acknowledge that the sad part, may need some time and healing, so it may be a good idea to call on a therapist or someone who can assist you through that emotion, keeping in mind, that if you choose to take drugs as an option you will numb the effects and feelings of many emotions, not just sad.

Ego State Therapy is an emotions based therapy and may be a natural answer.

If you are feeling prolonged periods of sadness, some good distraction techniques, to assist with bringing your thoughts to the now could be something as simple and easy as,
noticing some things around you at that time. Like noticing five things you see, for example, notice what you notice about them, the shape, the colour, the size. Then notice five things you are hearing and finally five things you are feeling, this can be warm or cold, happy or sad, tied or energetic or notice where your body is touching the chair that you are sitting on. Pretty quickly you will notice the sad part is not so obviously taking centre stage in your day, you now have the curious part or the observing part bringing you into noticing the things that are around you right here and now.

Clinical Hypnosis has the ability to bypass the conscious rationale and get right to the emotion.

If you are feeling prolonged periods of sadness, some good distraction techniques, to assist with bringing your thoughts to the now could be something as simple and easy as, noticing some things around you at that time. Ego State Therapy

Ego State Therapy

Ego State Therapy is a dynamic, elegant and yet powerful therapy that deals directly with the individual parts or states of which people consist. Sound strange and unusual, yes admittedly it does, until you stop and think about how we all talk about ourselves and what we do and do not like in terms of “parts of us”

Think of how you describe your work day, for example. Well part of me wanted to stay in bed this morning when the alarm went off, but part of me knew I had to get up and go to work, because I had so much to do. Oh and part of me wants to make sure I keep my job, because part of me needs the money and another part of me loves to go on holidays. See what I mean, we all talk in parts and refer to those parts.

Most of these parts, or ego states are formed in our developmental years, some can be formed in later years, if there has been a major event or trauma in one’s life, however most are formed before the age of twelve.

Basically there are four types of states, Normal, Vaded, Retro and Conflicted. In an ideal situation a person functions best having all normal functioning states, these are states that are balanced and operating in a positive manner for the emotional health and well-being of each individual person.

The first of the three types of states or parts, that can benefits most from the assistance of seeking therapy with an Ego State Therapist are Vaded States. A Vaded State is unable to perform it role and is holding onto an anxiety, which creates a level or fear or rejection. Vaded States are often the cause of many addictions, fears and panic disorders, they are insecure states and often reactive states within the personality that experience feelings of being out of control. These states need to be heeled in such a way that they feel safe, heard and validated, supported and most importantly loved.

Vaded states are identified when an emotion does not fit the situation. An example of this is, if you are talking to your friend about a warm sunny day down the beach, and you begin to feel overwhelmed with emotion, that is an indication that there is a state that is present and doesn’t fit the situation, so it will require some therapy on an emotional level. However if you were talking to your friend about say the recent passing of a loved one, and you began to cry, well that emotion you would suggest, does fit the situation, so therefore the state is operating in a normal manner.

The next type of state is a Retro State and these states that have adopted a behaviour or coping skill, often as a child, that no longer works or is appropriate for that person as an adult. An example of a Retro State could be a young boy, throwing himself on the floor of the supermarket when shopping and throwing a tantrum, because his mother would not allow him to have a lolly or a bag of chips or something similar. If the mother gave in to this tantrum, that state learns that behaviour works for him, so he may carry that behaviour through to adulthood and he may find himself in all types of trouble and often anger and rage, when that state is not getting what it wants. A prime example of this type of behaviour is road rage. In Ego State Therapy we negotiate with that state and have the state alter it’s role for the benefit of that person, and have another part take over the role of coming out when someone cuts them off whilst driving.

The other type of state is a Conflicted State, whilst it is a normal balance to have one ego state wishing to spend money and another wishing to save, they are considered Conflicted when the level of conflict between the two states rises to a level that the state develop a level of anxiousness or anxiety for that person. One clear way to identify a conflicted state is when a person makes a statement something like “I hate myself when I do that” , that is one state, saying it is not happy with the actions or behaviours of another internal state.

Everything we do or say, comes from a state, so stop right now and ask yourself, what state is it that has lead you to read this article this far? Is it the inquisitive state, the learning state, maybe a sceptical state? Whatever state it is, it is a great resource to learn your own internal states and know the roles and emotions associated with each state, that way you know where they are and what to call them, when you need there assistance.

Naturally, we can expand and delve a lot more in to understanding the theories behind the Ego States when we are working with our clients in a therapeutic setting, however you can start today, by identifying your own states, name them when they come out, maybe like Happy, Glad, Sad or Mad, notice the setting they come out in and identify the role and what they are doing for you at the time and how you feel on an emotional level. Beginning with getting to know your own internal map of your states, will assist you in identifying your own states that require heeling if they are impacting upon your life in a negative way.

If you would like assistance with Ego State Therapy, please call our centre on (03) 9327 2293 to book your face to face appointment (sorry no phone or Skype therapy available when working with Ego States) we currently have two therapists with Clinical Ego State Therapy qualifications to assist you. If you are not in our area, please feel free to contact us and we will direct you to a qualified therapist in your area.

Long hard day at work? Arrive home, have trouble controlling the cravings and urges to eat? This is a very common issue, that many people do not even realise they have, let alone know where it developed or came from.

For many adults, who have not been re-programmed, our programming was created by our parents, our guardians or those authority figures like teacher from our developmental years and we have brought those same habits and behaviours through with us into our adult life, with little or no awareness of their origin.

Remember having to sit at the table and eat all of your vegetables because they were good for you, or because you needed to grow into a big boy or girl, or maybe because we are not that well off that we can afford to just waste food, or maybe you had the ultimate in emotional blackmail, that the starving children overseas, in the third world countries would appreciate that food.

Don’t think for one moment, I am picking on your parents, they didn’t realise what they were doing, that is probably the way they were raised too. And they really did want you to grow up and be strong and not to be wasteful.

So the thing is, now you are a big girl or boy and you are now an adult, so we need to alter that programming and those belief systems that were developed as a child, because you no longer need to eat up everything on your plate to grow up, that part is already done, you are now an adult and you have a choice, so you can stop now when you are full or satisfied and guess what, you don’t even have to eat if you are not hungry.

Best Hypnosis Weight Loss Clinical

When you arrive home, from a hard day at work. Maybe you are seeking to fulfil emotions and get those same warm fuzzy feelings we used to get when we arrived home from school or if we had done a really good job. Looking for that reward, chocolate, cake, biscuits, sweet drinks, lollies all the things we were rewarded with when we arrived home from school.

Yes, that’s it! We work hard and we can reward ourselves and feel good, however we need to break to cycle, hop off this merry-go-round and don’t eat to fulfil these emotional needs and this is where hypnosis weight management clinical can assist, by reprogramming the subconscious mind with what is good for us now as an adult.
